Jefferson Peréz: "I have not yet reached my limit"
Jefferson Peréz made world headlines in Atlanta, striking the first
ever Olympic gold for Ecuador in the 20 km walk to become the
youngest Olympic Champion in the history of race walking. In the
18th World Race Walking Cup in Podebrady, Perez confirmed his
talent, clocking 1:18:24 to win the fastest race ever competed over
the distance, with six walkers finishing under 1:19.
Didoni makes his forecast for 20km Walking Winner tomorrow
Milanese walking star Michele Didoni gave his forecast
for the winner of the 20km men's race which takes place tomorrow here in Podebrady:
"It's Perez or Korzeniowski". But then, maybe Michele himself could be in with a fighting
chance - he certainly hasn't thrown in his walking shoes yet!
Olympic clash in Podebrady
All of the Olympic race walking medallists will be
competing in Podebrady, but the battle to watch will be between Perez and Korzeniowski.
Perez might have needed holding up after he had crossed the line in Atlanta, but nothing
will hold him back in Podebrady, he's in his best shape ever!

Italy is sending a formidable squad, equally balanced
in the men's 50km and 20km and women's 10km, to Podebrady for the 18th edition of the IAAF World Race
Walking Cup on April 19-20.
The Russians are coming
Until the disintegration of the Soviet Bloc,
USSR race walkers were renowned for their prowess and much of their consistency has been retained by
the Russians. The Russian teams will be pulling out all of the stops in Podebrady in both men's and
women's events and will be worthy opponents to the Chinese for the team awards.

The 18th IAAF World Race Walking Cup will be
the greatest meeting of champions in the history of the event. You may not know Podebrady, but this beautiful
spa town in the centre of the Czech Republic just a few kilometres from Prague has drawn more champions
than any other venue since the Cup's foundation in 1961.
