Set world junior record (since broken) of 1:57.63 in just missing medal in 91 World Champs at age 18. Won 93 world title (Mozambique’s first ever medallist) by biggest ever margin at Olympic/World Champs level; 1:55.43 was fastest in the world for 4 years and she improved to 1:55.19 in 94. After 42 consecutive 800m wins she was disqualified in her semi at the 95 World Champs for stepping out of her lane; counting finals only her 50-win streak at 800m extended from Aug 92 to third place in 96 Olympic final. In 96 set world indoor 1000 records of 2:32.08 and 2:31.23 and ran 2nd fastest ever indoor 800 (Commonwealth & African record 1:57.13).
