Has set 17 world outdoor records since 84, including first 6m (85) & first 20ft (6.10) in 92; 18 indoor world records since 84, including first 20ft in 91. Total of 17 outdoor world records is most in history in a single event (previously 14 by Iolanda Balas of Romania in women’s HJ). Over 6m for last 12 seasons. The 6.14 at altitude in Sestriere won him a Ferrari sports car worth $120,000. Won 85, 87 & 91 GP (overall GP winner in 91 & 93). Has vaulted 6.00 or higher in more than 40 contests.
