Uster is the third largest city in the Canton of Zurich and lies nestled in a landscape of forests, fields and hills, surrounding the lake shores of the Greifensee.The course of the 7th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships will run around the tranquil shores of this lake.
Uster developed into a significant industrial area in the past century. Along the Aabach stream stand countless manufacturing plants, mainly from the textile industry.
With the expansion of the rail system approximately 150 years ago, further developments were put into motion and Uster transformed itself from a village into a city, which is now home to 27,000 residents.
