Wilson Kipketer of Denmark had the crowd in the Paris
Palais Omnisports Bercy on their feet as he marked a new world record in the heats for the
800m semi-final. Kipketer's time of 1:43.97 took nearly one second off Paul Ereng's (KEN)
1989 time of 1:44.84. Nicolas Davies reports from Paris.
