Welcome to the "Inside IAAF" section of the official IAAF web site.

In 2002 we will celebrate 90 years of the IAAF. Since our Association's creation in 1912, we have seen many changes in our sport and our structure has evolved alongside the amazing evolution that has occurred in our athletes' performances.

We will enter this tenth decade leading up to our first century of existence with the same strong principles that have guided my predecessors and myself throughout the fist 90 years of the IAAF.

We will maintain the same unbending commitment to growing the sport that we all love, whilst respecting the principles of equality and fair play - a level playing field for all regardless of their gender, colour, ethnicity or religion - that are our fundamental creed. We will continue to seek to develop the best possible environment for our athletes, enabling them to provide the great sporting entertainment that will draw fans to our stadiums and youngsters to our sport.

In this section you will find a wealth of information concerning the structure and workings of the International Association of Athletics Federations, profiles of the members of the IAAF Council and details of the various Committees and Commissions that aid Council in their great responsibility of governing the sport of Athletics world-wide.
